Quick Tips for Mascara

Monday, March 1st, 2010

If you are looking for the best tips on how to apply mascara, here is what you need to know from my makeup artist San Antonio experience!

First of all, it is important to curl your eyelashes prior to applying mascara, not afterward. If you curl your eyelashes after applying mascara, that could cause breakage or damage since the mascara can stick to the eyelash curler.

From there, it is always a great idea to apply two coats of mascara. However, it is important to allow the first coat to dry completely before applying a second coat. If you do this correctly, it will prevent clumping overall by letting the first coat dry. As a great tip, why not try two different types of mascara? You can apply the first coat of volumizing mascara, and the second coat of a lengthening mascara for the best way to bring out your beautiful eyes!

Here are some pointers from my San Antonio wedding makeup experience.

Every eye is different, and if you are looking for the best way to apply Asian eyeliner, then I can tell you a few simple tricks to help you out. This is imperative for Asian eyes because you really want to flatter them to make the eyes stand out and look dramatic. It’s all so easy from my experience as a makeup artist in San Antonio!

  1. Start to line the eyes by pulling the skin taut on the top lash line. Get as close as possible to ensure the most natural look. Most Asian eyes will look the most complementary with black eyeliner.
  2. Go over this line at least twice to make it look thick enough to draw out the eye. Follow the same application for the other eye.
  3. You may simply only choose to line the top of the eye, which often look the best for Asian eyes, or you can line the bottom very lightly with a charcoal eyeshadow and slanted brush. To open up Asian eyes, you can also choose to line underneath the eye with white eyeliner for a contrast.
  4. Make sure to curl the eyelashes so that you can apply mascara easily, and use several coats of mascara to lengthen lashes, and make the eyes appear larger.

From here, you can try a cat eye or smoky eye look, or just continue with your regular eyeshadow application. I hope that this has proved helpful because all it takes is a few tricks to make Asian eyes really stand out and show their true beauty!
