What is the best way to cover up a tattoo? If it is your wedding day or another special event, you may want to cover up that butterfly tattoo you got on your back when you were 18. If that’s the case, check out these helpful tattoo cover up tips from my San Antonio makeup experience.

First of all, invest in a professional color corrector. This is a thicker and creamier concealer that is used for photography makeup, and you can use it for effective camouflage. Start out by applying a makeup primer to the area that you want to cover, which will help the cover up to stay on for longer. After that, apply a color corrector with a makeup brush, and blend well with a sponge.

Finally, you can apply a foundation that matches your skin tone, and top with a translucent powder to set the makeup in place. If you have golden skin, brush the area with a bronzer so that it looks as natural as possible, and you’re ready to go – sans tattoo!

No matter what your issue may be, whether you are not getting enough coverage or your concealer smears by the end of the day, here are some helpful tips from my makeup artist San Antonio experience:

•If you are having trouble covering under eye puffiness with your concealer, then make sure to set it in place with a translucent powder. This will help to prevent the oils in the concealer from creasing on your skin if you have fine lines or puffy eyes for a smoother finish.
• If you have very light skin and are hoping to cover veins underneath your eyes, it is best to try a light weight product that won’t cake or look obvious. Make sure to touch up your concealer throughout the day for the ultimate coverage.
• If you have photos coming up, use a color corrector instead of a concealer for blemishes and under eye circles. Top with foundation and a translucent powder to look your best in pictures!

Wedding Day Body Acne

backWhen it is your wedding day, you definitely want to look flawless from head to toe. Here are the best methods for covering up body acne from my wedding makeup San Antonio experience.

First of all, ask your wedding makeup artist to use the same method of makeup application for any acne scars on your chest or back. Body acne can often cause very dark hyperpigmentation, which is a build up of melanin that will result in acne scarring. If you are serious about clearing up your skin before your wedding day, then invest in some chemical peels or microdermabrasions that will remove dead skin and scarring.

Otherwise, have your wedding makeup artist apply primer, concealer, and a powder finish to your body acne so that it looks even and fully covered. Make sure that you do not apply any makeup while in your wedding dress, which should go without saying! It is best to use a heavier color corrector in these areas with scarring for a beautiful flawless finish for your wedding day.

To get an expert makeup application, this is something that you definitely need to know! Here is the best way to dry out a blemish from my bridal makeup San Antonio experience.

blemishesIf you have an important event coming up, especially your wedding day, then odds are, you may break out because of the stress. To dry out that blemish easily and look as flawless as ever, you can mix lemon juice (using half a lemon) with a packet of dry yeast. Apply the mixture directly to your blemish for up to five minutes, and it will dry it out well.

After that, you can expertly apply concealer to cover the blemish completely in your makeup application. Use a concealer brush for the application, and it is best to use a green concealer or color corrector to neutralize the redness in the blemish.

Apply your foundation as usual, and you are ready to hit the road – beautiful as ever!

Friday, August 21st, 2009

Dark circles under the eyes can be a nagging and pesky problem, so you definitely want to make sure that you have the tools necessary to get them taken care of fast. Here are some easy tricks from my bridal makeup San Antonio experience.

darkOne of the best ways to take care of dark circles that make you look as if you haven’t slept in weeks is to use concealer on the inner half of the under eye area. Blend this well, and then use an illuminating and highlighting product on the outer half of the under eye area. It’s best to use a color corrector if you have very dark under eye circles, and then you can use an illuminating tinted moisturizing product for the outer half of the under eye circles.

This is a great way to completely mask the dark and bruised area that can often be found underneath the eye, and it will also open up your eyes by adding some highlighting to the outer corners. The highlighting will also be a wonderful way to mask crow’s feet and any wrinkles in the eye area. Here’s to a more beautiful you!

This is the ever elusive topic that every woman out there wants to know, whether it is her wedding day or not, because you’re concealer application can make or break you. Here are the tips that you need to know from my experience as a makeup artist in San Antonio. This will help your face to look like a flawless canvas for your entire makeup application.

  • First, make sure that you moisturize well because if your skin is too dry, then the concealer will look flaky or cakey. If you are an oily skin type, use an oil-free moisturizer, or blot with oil control papers.
  • You want the concealer to be one shade lighter than your foundation, and look for either a yellow or peach undertone, depending on the undertones of your own skin.
  • I also recommend a color corrector because it will give a matte finish to your under eye area or blemishes.
  • If you are using mineral makeup foundation, you can mix that with a little bit of water to work as a concealer for your flaws.
  • Use a concealer brush to apply first to your under eye area, and make sure to include the dark area between your eye and the bridge of your nose. Blend well.
  • Apply the concealer to any blemishes that you may have, including acne scarring or sun damage.
  • If you are applying concealer to a specific blemish, make sure to blend well around the pimple so that it is completely covered and invisible.

From this point, apply your foundation for a perfect overall finish. You will notice that as you apply your concealer correctly, the tone of your complexion will look smooth and even, making your face look perfectly beautiful!

natural

This is the perfect look for the summertime since you will be spending so much time out in the sun, at the beach, by the pool, etc. This is also great for any time of year if you are an all-natural, bohemian beauty who loves to look your best with less. The whole point of makeup anyway is to look as if you aren’t wearing any, so I am here to tell you how to use minimal makeup to look your best from my experience as a makeup artist in San Antonio.

  1. Begin with a clean face, and moisturize well.
  2. Use a tinted moisturizer all over your face to give even color.
  3. Use a brush to apply a color corrector underneath your eyes and on your eyelids to give an even shade to that area of your face so that you look fresh and awake. Make sure that it is a color that matches your skin tone, and blend well.
  4. Apply only mascara to make your eyes stand out for a minimal makeup look.
  5. Use a mineral makeup blush for the apples of your cheeks that is in a soft pink or peach, and apply in a swirling motion so that it blends well.
  6. For your lips, use a gloss or lip stain that will look completely natural and make your pout pop.

And that’s it! Even if you’re skeptical, give this a look at try because it uses a very minimal cosmetics to even out your skin tone, play up your best features, and make you look your best. Stunning for the summertime!
