With my upcoming work as a San Antonio makeup artist for a men’s photo shoot, I figured it would be great to provide some insider tips on how to do men’s makeup for photography. Here we go!

For any type of men’s photography, it is important to bring out specific features and minimize imperfections in the skin. The ideal rule of thumb is not to overapply makeup, which will look quite obvious. The best bet is to use a powdered mineral makeup foundation to reduce shine and also a color corrector to even out any blemishes.

To double-check the makeup application, make sure that the face makeup matches the neck and chest perfectly. There is nothing more disheartening than seeing a male model with a different colored face than the rest of the skin tone! For subtle additions, use clear mascara to separate the eyelashes, bronzer to liven up the skin tone, and a nude lip color for a finishing touch. Picture perfect!

The best way to have shiny and full lashes is to make your mascara work for you! Find out what you need to know from my San Antonio makeup experience.

Start out by curling your lashes, which will help them to appear fuller and have more volume. To hold that eyelash curl in place, apply a coat of clear mascara, which will freeze the curl and keep your lashes looking dramatic all day long.

Another way to use clear mascara is to apply it as a final coat after you have applied your regular mascara. This will help you to add shine to your lashes for a sleek appearance. Last of all, you can also dab a small amount of clear mascara onto your brows to keep them groomed and polished!

eyeTroubleshooting mascara issues is so necessary if you want to have a beautiful makeup application. It is even more important if you are preparing for an event like your wedding day, so here are some easy tips from my San Antonio bridal makeup experience.

One of the most important things to do is to use a waterproof mascara on a regular basis, especially if it is your wedding day. If you are prone to sweating or are in a hot climate, then waterproof mascara is helpful to keep your mascara from bleeding and running.

On top of that, if you have gorgeous natural lashes, then considering a clear mascara because it will not bleed or run if you are out at the pool or in hot weather. Many times, simply curling your eyelashes and wearing clear mascara is a wonderful alternative to a darker mascara. It is also a natural way to bring out your beautiful features, like your eyes, without having to worry about your mascara bleeding and running on a hot day.

However, for important days like your wedding, consider a high-quality waterproof mascara to make sure that your makeup look is beautiful all day long!

  • You can easily trim your eyebrows by brushing them upward with a grooming brush and snipping at the ends with small scissors. This will cause them to lay flat and look smoother.
  • Use a clear gel or clear mascara to hold your brows in place for a polished finish.
  • Color your eyebrows with a slanted brush and an eyeshadow that matches your hair color for the most natural application. This is much more preferable than using an eyebrow pencil.
  • When you are tweezing stray hairs, always go slowly to make sure that you are working evenly and not removing too many hairs.
  • As you tweeze, pull in the direction of the hair growth so that the hair doesn’t break off or become ingrown.
  • Remember, full eyebrows are beautiful so there is no need to over tweeze from your natural look.

I hope that these tips have been helpful, especially for your wedding day, to give you the finishing touches that you need in a flawless makeup look. Believe it or not, groomed eyebrows make a huge difference in your overall final look!
