The Hottest Makeup Trend of 2010

Monday, December 28th, 2009

lip1The new year is almost upon us, which offers you the opportunity to try out the hottest makeup trend of 2010. Are you ready? Here is what you need to know from my makeup artist San Antonio experience.

One of the easiest ways to add some vibrance to your look for the winter season is with a lip stain. This is different from using your average lipstick because it adds a deep color to your pout without looking heavy like a lipstick application.

What you may find on the runways is that these lip stains are being paired with very nude makeup so that your face looks bare in comparison. Go for a bare and natural face with a deep and dramatic lip stain for the new year!

• With those gold lips, a dramatic eye will look best! This is a wonderful time of year to use warm espresso colors to create a smoky eye. The key is to apply your eyeliner with a contour makeup brush, and then slightly smudge the lower lash line with a Q-tip.
• With a gorgeous lip and dramatic eye, your best bet is to go subtle and natural on your cheeks. Use a cream or gel blush that you can blend into well moisturized skin for a fresh glow for your holiday celebration!

Wintertime may be the most wonderful time of the year, but it can often pose a series of problems when it comes to your makeup. Here is how to stop these problems before they start from my makeup San Antonio experience.

One of the best things that you can do for your skin in the wintertime is to exfoliate and moisturize on a regular basis. If your skin becomes dry and flaky, that will directly affect your makeup application. It is best to gently exfoliate 2 to 3 times per week, and then use a moisturizer that is appropriate for your skin type every time that you cleanse.

Allow your moisturizer to absorb for five minutes before you apply your makeup, and also blot your moisturizer with a tissue before applying makeup to make sure that your skin is not too greasy. If you use liquid foundation, the best way to keep your skin moist in the winter season is to add a small amount of lotion to the foundation that you are using for your makeup application. Set your foundation with a light pressed powder for an easy winter makeup look!

The Perfect MAC Eyeshadow For The Holiday Smoky Eye

Tuesday, December 8th, 2009

macTo create a delightful and subtle smoky eye for the holiday season, there is only one eyeshadow duo that I have in mind. Check out the holiday collection of the MAC Mineralize Eye Shadow Duo in Devil-May-Care!

This is a wonderful eyeshadow combination if you are into metallic colors for the holiday season. This will inspire a little bit of naughtiness in you, and it comes in a sheer and high shine formula. Keep in mind that this is a limited edition, so it may be a great idea to snatch it up before it is too late!

This eyeshadow duo has a base of a rich light violet shade to complement a silver eyeshadow shade. For an easy holiday smoky eye, I recommend to use the silver eyeshadow over the entire eyelid, and then apply it as eyeliner to the lower lash line with a contour brush. Use the rich light violet color to blend into the silver eyeshadow for a smudgy and subtle effect in a natural smoky eye for your office Christmas party!

metalllic-eyeshadow-gtl021207-240x312Believe it or not, Winter 2009 is upon us, so it is important to find out the hottest new makeup shades to wear for a whole you! Here is what to keep an eye out for from my makeup artist San Antonio experience.

Some of the most popular eyeshadow colors for this winter are deep earth tones, like forest greens and browns. These colors will bring out more natural eye colors, and they will allow you to use neutral makeup for the rest of your face. If you are going for a bolder look, then metallic colors are hot this winter, like bronze and gold.

Since the weather outside is frightful, the smoky eye never fails. Consider using a lighter grey eyeshadow to create a more subtle smoky eye that you can wear every day to the office or out with friends!
