How To Get Lips Like Scarlet Johansson

Tuesday, August 11th, 2009

Scarlet Johansson is, of course, known for her luscious and beautiful lips to go with her wonderfully curvaceous body. The great news is that it is easy to use a few simple tricks to get those pouty celebrity lips, from my bridal makeup San Antonio experience.

  • scarlett-johansson-it-gq-01First, exfoliate your lips well so that they are completely flawless. It is best to scrub gently with a warm and wet washcloth to fully exfoliate any dead skin from your lips. This exfoliation technique also does boost circulation to the lips to naturally plump them.
  • Line your lips with a dramatic lip liner color that matches the lip color that you are going to use.
  • Next, apply your lip color with a brush for even and full coverage.
  • Finish by applying a small amount of tinted gloss to the center of your bottom lip to attract attention and make it appear fuller.

Complete your look by downplaying the rest of your makeup to draw even more attention to your luscious lips! This is truly an A-list style.

Are You Avoiding Parabens?

Friday, July 31st, 2009

Do you even know what parabens are? I am so happy to share this information with you to give you further skin care knowledge, from my bridal makeup San Antonio experience.

First of all, it is so important that you are reading your skin care product labels to see what ingredients are in them. I recommend that you go all-natural and organic because your skin is the largest organ in your body, so shouldn’t you be more careful as to what you put on your face? What you put on your skin is absorbed topically into your bloodstream and circulatory system, meaning it can directly affect your health.

Parabens are preservatives used in skin care products, and they don’t have too much research surrounding them. This is actually a bad thing because they can release the toxic chemical methanol, and some studies say they could potentially cause breast cancer. This is something that you want to avoid at all costs, which is why I caution you to look further into your skin care products and read the labels to see what you are putting on your face!

Your skin will thank you…

tea

There will definitely be times surrounding your wedding that you may have a problem with your skin or makeup that needs to be fixed immediately, so what is a bride to do? I have some easy tips to help you out with unexpected problems that may come up around your wedding day or any other special occasion from my experience as a San Antonio makeup artist.

  • If you get an unexpected sunburn, try to ease the redness with cool compresses. Moisturize well, and cover it with a mineral makeup foundation, which is the most natural foundation that won’t irritate skin any further. It will also help to cover up redness.
  • If you have any bruises, cover them with a color corrector before you put on your foundation to neutralize the dark color.
  • If you are looking pale, then opt for a self tanning lotion, which does need to be applied regularly the week before your wedding for the most natural look.
  • If your eyes are tired or puffy from crying, then apply a used tea bag for several minutes. Caffeinated tea is preferable because caffeine will work as a vasodilator to reduce puffiness.
  • Curl your lashes to instantly open up your eyes and draw attention to your peepers.
  • Always moisturized regularly so that your final wedding makeup application will go on smoothly without looking cakey or heavy.

I hope that these tips were helpful to you in avoiding any type of issues for the perfect makeup application. There are definitely problems that can occur, but you’ll avoid all the stress by having these handy tips to help you out on your wedding day!

Summer days are meant for bare and beautiful faces, but what is a girl to do for those lovely summer nights? This is the time that you are going out, getting wild, and kicking up your heels, so you definitely want to add a glam touch to your makeup look. I am a huge MAC fan, from my experience as in San Antonio bridal makeup, so I have some great recommendations for you to complete your summer night look!

  • Lips: Viva Glam III is a beautiful deep red lip color for $14, which will go perfect to give you a kissable pout that draws attention.
  • Eyes: Bright Future is an eye pigment that is $14.50 and is a bright yellow gold which will totally add a daring and fun site to your look. Apply it lightly over your lid, or mix with a little bit of water to apply wet as an eyeliner. The bolder, the better!
  • Cheeks: Just a Pinch gel blush is the perfect sheer tint to give a rosy red color to your cheeks that will look like you are flushed from the sun. Remember, it is best to look as natural as possible since you are using such bold colors on the rest of your face!

Other than that, give yourself several coats of a lengthening mascara to make your eyes stand out, and I recommend still using a tinted moisturizer so that your face doesn’t look too heavy for the summertime and has a glow. Beautiful!

tweeze

If you are struggling with your eyebrows being too bushy or too thin, that I am here to tell you the easiest way to shape your eyebrows in a few simple steps. All you will need is an eye pencil, slanted tweezers, a mirror, and a brow comb. Let’s get started!

  1. To find out where your eyebrow should begin, line up your eye pencil along the base of your nose to your eyebrow. Make a mark where the eyebrow should begin, and tweeze the excess hair.
  2. To find the arch of your eyebrow, angle the eye pencil from the base of your nose to the iris (colored part) of your eye, and that is where the arch will be. Tweeze all excess hair.
  3. To find the end of your eyebrow, line the eye pencil from the base of your nose to the outer corner of your eye, and mark the end of your eyebrow. It should extended slightly beyond your eye. Tweeze excess hair.
  4. Make sure to tweeze slowly and evenly so that you don’t overdo it and have uneven eyebrows.

And that’s it! I hope that you have enjoyed these easy tips to give you the perfect eyebrow shape, from my experience in San Antonio quinceanera makeup. Brilliant.

How To Get Your Skin To Look Well Rested

Monday, June 8th, 2009

sleeping-woman-istock500I am sure that you, just like every single other woman out there, are struggling with juggling a busy schedule, so when it comes to your complexion, it is vital to have your skin looking as fresh and as rested as possible. So how can you do that without actually being a magician? I am here to tell you some easy tips to freshen your skin and make it look like you have gotten your full eight hours from my experience as a San Antonio makeup artist. Ready?

  • Drink water! This may seem like a no-brainer, but this little trick will keep you going when all else fails. Water will work to flush toxins from the surface of your skin that makes your eyes look puffy and your complexion look flat. Always rely on drinking water to freshen your face.
  • Use a bronzer: This will really help to wake you up and make you look glowing, so either opt for a tinted moisturizer or a powdered bronzer that you can apply over your makeup with a fluffy brush in the morning.
  • Use a white eye pencil: This is a trick used by morning TV pros, and all you have to do is simply line your lower lashes with a white eye pencil to make your eyes pop and look fresh and awake.
  • Use tea bags: You can apply used tea bags to your eyes to soothe the puffiness, but make sure to use tea bags containing caffeine because it is a vasodilator that will constrict your skin and make it look firmer.

These are just a few simple tips to help you fake a good nights sleep with a flawless face. This is especially helpful for those times around your wedding when you are stressed and not sleeping well but still need to look your best!
