Sometimes it’s just fun to try a makeup style inspired by a different decade! Here are some flawless makeup tips from the 70s from my makeup artist San Antonio experience.

With my upcoming work as a San Antonio makeup artist for a men’s photo shoot, I figured it would be great to provide some insider tips on how to do men’s makeup for photography. Here we go!

For any type of men’s photography, it is important to bring out specific features and minimize imperfections in the skin. The ideal rule of thumb is not to overapply makeup, which will look quite obvious. The best bet is to use a powdered mineral makeup foundation to reduce shine and also a color corrector to even out any blemishes.

To double-check the makeup application, make sure that the face makeup matches the neck and chest perfectly. There is nothing more disheartening than seeing a male model with a different colored face than the rest of the skin tone! First of all, it is important to have the right type of makeup brush for your mineral makeup. It is often recommended to use a fluffy kabuki brush to swirl mineral powder evenly onto your complexion. You will need a smaller fluffy makeup brush for applying blush and bronzer as well.

If you are not yet ready to go under the needle, there are some quick ways to make your lips look larger from my makeup artist San Antonio experience!

You don’t necessarily have to get painful injections to have the swollen, bee stung look that is so popular in full lips. One word of caution is to completely avoid applying your lip liner outside of your lip line as a trick because you will only look like a clown. Don’t do it!

Instead, use a lip liner that is the same color as your lip color, and apply directly on your lip line so that your lips look as full as possible. As a final step, apply a dab of clear gloss to the center of your bottom lip, which will reflect light and make your pucker look simply pouty!

If you are looking for dramatic lips that really will last, here is what to do from my San Antonio makeup service experience!

This is a trick used by professional runway models, but begin by applying lip balm to your lips. After that, use a lip brush to apply different shades of dark berry lip liner to the lips. Then, apply the dark and dramatic lip color that you are going for. To help it stay on all day long, blot your lips with a tissue, and then apply pressed powder to the tissue so that it can preserve the lip color to stay on for longer.

To remove this dark and dramatic color, use Vaseline, and wipe off the color gently with a tissue.

This look is best worn with neutral makeup and a naked face to offset the drama of your gorgeous pucker!

You may be intimidated by the prospect of wearing blue eyeshadow, but when done correctly, it can perfectly offset your look! Here are some tips from my wedding makeup San Antonio experience:

• First of all, use neutral colors with the blue eyeshadow, including gray, khaki, and medium brown, which lightens a bright blue color.
• Use blues moderately, meaning as a complementary color on the eyelid or to accent other eye makeup colors instead of all over the eye as an 80s look!
• To ease into blue eyeshadow, try deeper blue colors to pair with browns instead of using bright blues off the bat.
• Avoid using too much shimmer or frost in your blue eyeshadow, which may make it look overbearing.
• Blue eyeshadows are wonderful for ladies with brown eyes, but don’t be afraid to match blue with blue if you have blue eyes to bring out your best feature!

If you have simply given up on wearing eyeshadow because it seems like a daunting task, here are some helpful tips for a foolproof application from my wedding makeup San Antonio experience!

• Always start out by wearing a primer because it will help the eyeshadow adhere to the skin and prevent running and creasing.
• Start out by covering your eyelids with an eyeshadow color that is close to your skin tone.
• Use a contour brush to apply a deeper color to the crease of your eye, whether it be an espresso, plum, or charcoal.
• Use a light shimmer or highlighter to blend both of the colors into your brow bone to make your eyes stand out.
• You can also use the color that you used in the crease of your eye to apply to the lower lash line and smudge for a quick smoky eye effect.

If you are running from the gym to work, it’s often difficult to mask signs of a hard workout. Here is the best way to stay radiant even after a workout from my bridal makeup San Antonio experience.

If you are dealing with red cheeks, then start out by blasting them with a shot of cool air from your blow dryer. After that, apply a soothing moisturizer to calm the skin, and use tinted moisturizer instead of a heavy foundation to let your glow shine through.

If your mascara is already smudging, then used a cleansing towelette to remove the excess mascara smudges. Simply curl your lashes to revamp the mascara that you are already wearing.

Last of all, use a light balm or lip stain to complete your quick makeup look, which will perfectly complement your glowing skin from your exercise routine!
