If you are hoping to look younger, here are some simple tricks to get you started from my bridal makeup San Antonio experience:

• First of all, make sure that you are using a gentle cleanser and moisturizing regularly. It is important to preserve the essential oils in your complexion, which prevent excessive dryness and premature wrinkles.
• Start using a serum treatment ASAP. The reason that this is key is because it gives you concentrated vitamins and peptide ingredients that can penetrate the surface of the skin to reduce the appearance of age from the inside out.
• Apply sunscreen every single day! Use an SPF of at least 30 that can block UVA and UVB rays, which can cause damage and wrinkling even on cold and cloudy days.
• Get enough sleep! This makes a serious difference in giving your skin time to repair itself so that you look fresh and youthful.

With my upcoming work as a San Antonio makeup artist for a men’s photo shoot, I figured it would be great to provide some insider tips on how to do men’s makeup for photography. Here we go!

For any type of men’s photography, it is important to bring out specific features and minimize imperfections in the skin. The ideal rule of thumb is not to overapply makeup, which will look quite obvious. The best bet is to use a powdered mineral makeup foundation to reduce shine and also a color corrector to even out any blemishes.
To double-check the makeup application, make sure that the face makeup matches the neck and chest perfectly. There is nothing more disheartening than seeing a male model with a different colored face than the rest of the skin tone! For subtle additions, use clear mascara to separate the eyelashes, bronzer to liven up the skin tone, and a nude lip color for a finishing touch. Picture perfect!

What is the best way to cover up a tattoo? If it is your wedding day or another special event, you may want to cover up that butterfly tattoo you got on your back when you were 18. If that’s the case, check out these helpful tattoo cover up tips from my San Antonio makeup experience.

First of all, invest in a professional color corrector. This is a thicker and creamier concealer that is used for photography makeup, and you can use it for effective camouflage. Start out by applying a makeup primer to the area that you want to cover, which will help the cover up to stay on for longer. After that, apply a color corrector with a makeup brush, and blend well with a sponge.
Finally, you can apply a foundation that matches your skin tone, and top with a translucent powder to set the makeup in place. If you have golden skin, brush the area with a bronzer so that it looks as natural as possible, and you’re ready to go – sans tattoo!

Let’s get the facts straight, what really causes acne? Here is what you need to know from my bridal makeup San Antonio experience.

First of all, one big myth to get off the table is that eating chocolate does not cause acne. Many people feel that eating greasy foods that are bad for you will cause acne, but that is definitely not the case. Acne is caused by dead skin cells that stick together on the complexion and mix with oil to clog pores, creating acne lesions.
Acne is caused by stress (which can often trigger people to eat chocolate and fatty foods), as well as using steroids or applying cheap facial products. The important thing to take into consideration is what type of skin care products you are regularly using, making sure that they have beneficial ingredients that won’t harm your complexion. Beware of skin care products that contain cheap filler ingredients that can clog pores and create new acne lesions!

If you are wondering how to best use contouring products, it is important to have a clear understanding to bring out your best features! Here is what you need to know from my San Antonio wedding makeup experience:

It’s ideal use a bronzer for contouring that you can dust into the hollows underneath your cheekbones to create a slimming effect. Apply this with a makeup brush, and always make sure to blend as well as possible so that it looks natural and minimizes roundness in your cheeks.

From there, you can use a blush to softly dust the apples of your cheeks up into your temples. If you want to apply a bronzer over your entire face for a glow, dust lightly across your cheeks and nose, as well as your forehead, which is where the sun would normally hit your face. Radiantly beautiful!

Many women avoid mineral makeup because they simply don’t know where to begin, but it is easier than you think! Here is what to expect from mineral makeup from my makeup San Antonio experience:

First of all, it is important to have the right type of makeup brush for your mineral makeup. It is often recommended to use a fluffy kabuki brush to swirl mineral powder evenly onto your complexion. You will need a smaller fluffy makeup brush for applying blush and bronzer as well.

Choose a mineral makeup foundation shade that matches your skin tone, and feel free to mix two shades together to customize. This is one of the great benefits of mineral makeup in that it is a powder so you can mix two shades together to blend a shade perfect for your skin tone.
Last of all, realize that mineral makeup provides the greatest benefit in natural sun protection that is free from chemicals and preservatives!

It is wonderful to have a rosy glow to your skin tone, but if you constantly struggle with flushing, there is a way to minimize this type of redness in the skin. Here is what to do from my wedding makeup San Antonio experience!

First of all, if you have excessive facial flushing, it could be caused by rosacea. This is a skin disorder that causes severe redness, which can be treated by green tinted concealer or foundation to neutralize redness. Another cause of deep redness and flushing is adult acne, which is brought on by hormones in pregnancy and menstruation. These pimples are likely to appear on the neck, jawline, and T-zone. If they are serious, you may want to use a medicated treatment from your physician to clear up your skin.
Last of all, deep flushing may be caused by symptoms of menopause, which can occur even in the 30s. If this is the case, treat hot flashes with a cool cloth on your neck to reduce redness in your skin.

If you are looking for the best tips on how to apply mascara, here is what you need to know from my makeup artist San Antonio experience!
First of all, it is important to curl your eyelashes prior to applying mascara, not afterward. If you curl your eyelashes after applying mascara, that could cause breakage or damage since the mascara can stick to the eyelash curler.
From there, it is always a great idea to apply two coats of mascara. However, it is important to allow the first coat to dry completely before applying a second coat. If you do this correctly, it will prevent clumping overall by letting the first coat dry. As a great tip, why not try two different types of mascara? You can apply the first coat of volumizing mascara, and the second coat of a lengthening mascara for the best way to bring out your beautiful eyes!

If you are interested in wild eyeshadow colors for the season, here are a few helpful hints from my San Antonio wedding makeup experience.

Click here to buy choices in bright eyeshadow at makeup.com!
Wild and bright eyeshadow colors are hot for this spring season, but it is best to apply them wet. If you don’t purchase cream eyeshadows in bright shades, you can easily use a wet/dry makeup application. Start out by applying a primer to your eyelids as a base. After that, apply the bright eyeshadow with a slightly damp makeup brush to make the colors stand out even more.

When you are using such bold colors, it is best to leave the rest of your makeup subtle with a nude blush and lipstick. You are now ready to rock the spring season beautifully!

If you are not yet ready to go under the needle, there are some quick ways to make your lips look larger from my makeup artist San Antonio experience!

You don’t necessarily have to get painful injections to have the swollen, bee stung look that is so popular in full lips. One word of caution is to completely avoid applying your lip liner outside of your lip line as a trick because you will only look like a clown. Don’t do it!
Instead, use a lip liner that is the same color as your lip color, and apply directly on your lip line so that your lips look as full as possible. As a final step, apply a dab of clear gloss to the center of your bottom lip, which will reflect light and make your pucker look simply pouty!
