Why Use Natural Products?

natural-beauty-productsThis is a very important question, especially if you want to select healthy products for your skin. Here are some recommendations from my San Antonio bridal makeup experience!

First of all, consider that your skin is the largest organ in your body. This means that you need to treat it well, even though it endures many types of abuse in your lifetime. One of the main benefits to using natural skin care products is that they are free from harmful chemicals. This means that they will not cause reactions in any skin type. Also, your skin has an easier time absorbing natural products since they are not made from synthetic ingredients.

Oftentimes, natural products are full of vitamin and antioxidant ingredients, which are proven tools in preventative skin care because they will neutralize free radical damage underneath the surface of the skin to prevent premature wrinkling. That’s reason enough for me!

Be careful when you say that natural products are free from harmful chemicals. You haven’t defined “natural.” Many so-called “natural” products actually contain harmful synthetic ingredients, or pesticides. For instance, you show Burts Bees in your picture, but they contain many harmful ingredients. Go to the Organic Consumers Association. They’ve done a lot of work advocating for truly natural and organic products and disclose which ones are fake organic.

Also, you can have reactions, even to natural products. For instance, some people have reactions to certain essential oils, even if they are certified organic & cold pressed to ensure they are bioactive. For that reason, you may not want to use baby products that have essential oils in them, even if they are certified organic.

Natural products are indeed important. What you put on your skin isn’t metabolized like the food we eat. For that reason, it’s even more important that your natural products be truly natural, not fake-natural, like most in health food stores. The only way to be sure your products are safe and don’t include anything harmful is to be sure they are Certified Organic.

This is a good introduction to the importance of natural personal care products, but there is a lot more to it than this.

Thank you for this input! You are completely right, and it is important for all customers to read product labels carefully to make sure that they are truly natural in their content. I never advocate the use of synthetic ingredients, especially parabens, which have been linked to breast cancer. Thank you for the tip on the Organic Consumers Association, and I will definitely check that out. I do agree with the fact that people can have reactions to natural products, which is why it is important to test out the products beforehand, especially if you have sensitive skin. Thank you again for your helpful input, and I encourage all my readers to look for products that are Certified Organic! :)
