It is wonderful to have a flawless makeup application, but if you are combating sun damage, then makeup can only do so much for you. It is so important to take care of your face so that your makeup has a smooth canvas to go on to, and one of the best ways to do this is with effective protection from sun damage. Here are some handy tips to keep your skin young and smooth, from my experience in San Antonio quinceanera makeup.

  • Always wear a daily medical grade sunblock with a zinc oxide percent of at least 9%. It is preferable to wear sunblock to a sunscreen because sunblock will actually block the UVA and UVB rays, which are aging and burning, respectively. (I do have to note that I advise not to wear any chemical sunblock on the day of your wedding because it causes pictures to turn out overexposed.)
  • Choose a makeup that has a natural SPF in it for added protection, like mineral makeup, which contains zinc oxide to completely protect from the sun, while also being good for your skin.
  • Stop using tanning beds because they are still completely harmful to your skin. There are numerous spray tan and self tanner options that look better than old, leathery skin anyway!
  • Commit to wearing sunscreen every single day because UVA rays, which cause aging, can be reflected from any surface, even snow, ice, or water.
  • To keep from having fine lines around your eyes, wear high quality sunglasses that block UV rays. They are not only protective, but they can be stylish too!

These are simple preventative tips to help you have a flawless makeup look every day because what is below the surface really does count!
